Weatherford is the county seat of Parker County and the largest city in the county. Weatherford has a long history of western heritage, farming, and agriculture. Known as the Peach Capital of Texas and the Cutting Horse Capital of the World, those historical heritages are still alive and well today, even as the community has grown into the commercial epicenter for the county and beyond. The history as a commercial epicenter on a major travel route is longstanding. The railroad arrived in 1880 with the Santa Fe Depot (now housing the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce) and later in the 1970’s when Interstate 20 was completed it put Weatherford on a major highway system that runs from far west Texas to all the way to South Carolina. Access to major transportation is and has always been one of the major superlatives enjoyed by Weatherford and its residents. Even with Weatherford having such major commercial enterprise the community has maintained a friendly small town feel and continues to offer beautiful communities with 2+ acre lots for those moving to the area to enjoy a country estates lifestyle. Every imaginable good and service is available in the city along with a robust medical community able to serve even most specialized needs. If you seek a community with a small-town feel, lots of parks, many wide-open spaces, and the conveniences of the city; then Weatherford may be exactly the community you’ve been looking for!
